- PublicationAnalysis and design of pile foundations for a sewage treatment plant(2020)
;Samarth S; ; In the present study, pile foundation underneath a single structural unit of a 90 MLD Sewage treatment plant is considered. The optimum configuration of pile arrangement with respect to number and spacing of piles for constant parameters of embedment depth of pile and subsoil characteristics and varying parameters of diameter of pile, eccentricity of loading, and pile material are investigated by using ETABS and SAFE softwares. The optimization, in terms of axial loads and slab stresses obtained, is considered for piles embedded in stratified soil with lower depths of pile shaft socketed in weathered rock, which has not been studied here to fore. Optimum pile configuration was found to be different than that which was originally provided for the considered structure. Next it was found that the endeavor to analyze pile foundation was justified in the case of provision of lesser number of piles and light-weight structural concrete but not for variation of pile diameter. Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020. - PublicationEffect of RBI Grade 81 on strength characteristics of Expansive soil(2022)
; ;Naagesh SGangadhara S.Expansive soils which are generally termed as problematic soils cause swelling and shrinkage resulting in significant damage to the structures constructed on them. In this study an attempt is made to know the effect of Road Building International Grade 81 (RBI Grade 81) on strength characteristics of expansive soil. RBI Grade 81 has a wide range of response spectrum. Response spectrum is the range of soils for which a particular stabilizer can be used. A wide range of tests such as Atterberg limits, Compaction, Unconfined compressive strength and California bearing ratio were conducted on expansive soil and expansive soil treated with various percentages of RBI Grade 81. The results indicate that RBI Grade 81 is effective in improving engineering properties of expansive soil. The Electrochemical Society - PublicationAnalysis of Flexible Pavement Over Expansive Subgrade Soil Using Plaxis Software(2022)
;Bharath B.KIn this study an attempt is made to find the effect of constant pavement thickness (as per template of IRC-37) for every replacement of expansive subgrade soil on pavement performance under loading condition through finite element analysis i.e., Analysis-1 and also to find the effect of variable pavement thickness (as per effective CBR of subgrade soil in IRC-37) for every replacement of expansive subgrade soil on pavement performance under loading condition through finite element analysis i.e., Analysis-2. Pavement life is also estimated in terms of rutting and fatigue cycles for the above by using the IRC: 37-2012 fatigue and rutting criteria. Considering both fatigue life and rutting life the most durable pavement model among Analysis-1 and Analysis-2 is A1.4 (300 mm replacement). The Electrochemical SocietyScopus© Citations 1
