As software engineering matures into true engineering discipline, there is an increasing need for a corresponding maturity in repeatability, assessment and measurement of artifacts associated with software [1]. Deriving a measure for reusability of software components has proven to be challenging task now a days. This paper aims at identifying the suitable metrics for measuring reuse achievements and artifacts (components) used in the software industry by surveying hundred software companies. My work focused on one of the commonly used methods of attribute relevance analysis, namely information gain analysis. Experiments are conducted with two categories of metrics (general metrics and component metrics) and the result shows a means to develop a set of six dimensions that describe suitability of reuse metrics in the case of first category and four dimensions in the case of second category for predicting reuse success.
